Draw the Big Feelings

If your child is feeling anxious, upset, or just generally having big feelings, you can ask them to draw about how they feel.

This activity can act as a constructive outlet for emotions that might otherwise come out negatively. By using emotions to fuel their creativity, kids can develop healthy coping mechanisms to process how they feel.

Once your child is done with their drawing, you can ask questions about the picture and which feelings went into it. These follow-up conversations will help your child to practise naming their feelings.
